For many of us, Lakewood Aquatics has been an integral part of our lives from practices, swim competitions, travel meets and everything in between. We’ve watched our swimmers and their teammates grow into amazing young adults. It is our intent to continue offering our services as one of Southern California’s top swim clubs to the children of our community.

As you may know, the COVID-19 pandemic has put a halt to large gatherings and has impacted youth sports’ practices and competitions. Many facilities utilized by sports teams have been temporarily closed and that unfortunately includes the pool we have called home for over 10 years at Cerritos College.  The facilities available to us have strict COVID-19 guidelines and limitations as to how many swimmers can be in a lane at a time. With such restrictions, we’ve had to lengthen our practice times in order to accommodate all our swimmers, which has resulted in costly pool rent each month.

Every year we host a swim-a-thon and multiple swim meets as fundraisers, but due to current restrictions we have been unable to fundraise in the capacity that is needed to keep our team functioning. We have been able to continue providing workouts for our swimmers with the help of grants, loans and donations from the Paycheck Protection Program, USA Swimming and now recently from Long Beach Gives.

Long Beach Gives is a one-day online fundraising program that caters to non-profit organizations, and the Aquatic Capital of America has asked to join them in raising money for Lakewood Aquatics and their organization. The event will take place on September 24 th, but our page is already live, so donations can be accepted starting now.

Remember: The Long Beach Gives fundraiser allows us to accept donations starting now all the way through September 24 th.

Thank you,

Lakewood Aquatics
